Commercial and residential PVC wall panels are becoming more popular. Reasonably so. Waterproof, affordable, and durable. How big are they?
In this post, we’ll cover PVC wall panel sizes, including which ones to choose depending on the product and how to ensure they fit your bathroom or kitchen.
3 PVC wall panel dimensions
Like any purchase, PVC wall panels have three dimensions—length, width, and thickness. Wall panel information for all three:
Thickness
Two thicknesses exist. Thin 2.5mm wall panels are attached to walls with adhesive paste. However, thicker 8-10mm wall panels have a tongue-and-groove system that clicks together when installed.
Width
Panels can also be broad or narrow. Wide panels, over 1,000mm, cover larger areas with fewer panels. Narrow panels around 250mm wide create a better tile- or wood effect.
Length
Most PVC wall panels are 2,500mm long. This length covers most bathroom and kitchen walls. You can cut them to fit your walls or find slightly shorter or longer versions.
What affects PVC wall panel size?
We’ll discuss our PVC wall panels’ size factors to give you a better idea of the sizes available.
Style
Many PVC and wall panel buyers value appearance as much as function. Thus, size depends on your desired look. For instance. Arctic Infinity has detailed prints of waterfalls and Big Ben. That look requires a large canvas over a meter wide.
Brick- and tile-effect designs require narrower panels to reflect their repeatable patterns. They are 250mm wide and sold in four packs to cover the same area as a more comprehensive panel.
Purpose
Use and location also affect PVC and wpc wall panel size. Many bathroom panels will cover an entire wall. Since standard wall panels do precisely that, this is fine.
They can also be used between your bath and the ceiling or as a sink splashback panel. These situations require shorter wall panels than standard sizes. They may be available in a different size. Cutting panels helps.
Wall panel trimming
As mentioned, some wall panels must be cut down. That could be a small splashback area where one panel can be split into several pieces or a slight adjustment to fit your wall perfectly.
Wall panels can be trimmed. It’s also simple. Here’s how:
Measure the required length twice to be sure. To check wall differences, measure at different points.
Draw the cutting line on your wall panels with a pencil.
Carefully trim the panel with a fine-toothed handsaw or jigsaw.
This doesn’t just shorten panels. Cut wall panels to fit around windows or sloped ceilings using the same method. To fit panels into room corners, cut them lengthwise.
To ensure fit, place cut panels without adhesive. If their size needs to be corrected, it’s less work.
PVC wall panel sizes: accurate?
Buyers worry that product sizes are estimates. Stone and wood, for example, can sometimes be cut to a uniform size.
Luckily, PVC doesn’t. It is manufactured and cut precisely. Igloo Surfaces provides wall panel dimensions in the description below the product name and price.
You get the size you see. However, our Arctic Infinity range can be custom-cut. Product samples are smaller but great for seeing the material and design up close.
